How about human hair?

My first thought is “who’s hair am I wearing?!” When I buy human hair it normally cost a lot of money even more money than what it takes me to buy hair products and often times the hair is not raw human hair which is the best kind even if it was advertised as such, it’s most likely to be half human hair mixed with synthetic hair. What about those women who gave away their hair ? How do they feel? Some of them gave away their hair to make some money to be able to take care of their family, some of those women thought they were giving their hair away to some organization for a good cause but really the hair is being sold somewhere for a lot of money. Those women didn’t get a fair trade, while they are getting paid about $4 those companies are selling their hair for 100s of dollars. Those women are often from Indonesia, India or Ethiopia, those women don’t make a lot of money when they give away their hair.

Originally women used wigs to hide an extreme scalp condition like alopecia or any other scalp condition that causes a woman to not have hair. But now women from all over the world are using it as a fashion statement! Some women haven’t seen their real hair in years! They always cover it up just so they can feel “beautiful” but why hide a part of yourself that God took time to create? It’s like telling God actually you made a mistake I was supposed to have long and wavy hair but instead I have this type of hair. Be proud of you are, it took me a long time to get here… but I am here now, and I love who I am becoming.

Synthetic hair is toxic!

The last time I used fake hair to braid my hair was in January 2024 and I left it in for a week and in a half, I was going through a tough time and I couldn’t stand the sight of it anymore. It was heavy and I hated it. For now I don’t plan to use braids in my hair anytime soon.

I started doing some research about synthetic hair because I realize every time I use any braiding hair that is synthetic, my scalp is itching a lot and I have a lot of dandruff which is an indication that my scalp is not healthy and that only happens when I use braiding hair! I had a rash on my scalp at one point and my scalp was soooo irritated but I would still use the braiding hair because I wanted “ to give my hair a break” but then as I take the braids out, my hair would shed so much even if I only leave it in for 2 weeks! And my scalp would be sooo irritated.

When I stopped using fake hair my scalp is a lot healthier although I have to wash my hair once a week because of products build up. But my scalp doesn’t itch anymore unless I use a new product that my hair doesn’t like.  Many women have scalp irritations and they even break out on their face when they use fake hair . Why do we use it? It’s not good for us! Honestly I am tired of using any fake hair I just want to love myself as I am.
